Tommy Johnson steered the Rapisarda Autosport International Top Fueler into a superb 10 th spot after the second and final day of qualifying for the O’ Reilly Auto Parts Northwest Nationals at Pacific Raceway, Seattle.

RAI’s opening salvo netted the team a 3.83/311.41mph pass, good for sixth place in the 18- car field. “We were planning to run in the mid 3.80 second range and to see the 3.83 come up on was a great result,” said Johnson.

“We were in the first pairing in Top Fuel to hit the track and all the other teams were out watching how the track would shape up and the Rapisarda boys and the team certainly delivered. Sixth was a strong performance particular considering the team has never raced here.”

RAI’s second qualifier ended around 3.6 seconds into the run when the car dropped the number seven cylinder and “TJ” clicked off early.

“The car is coming around,” according to Johnson. “You can see today and also at Sonoma last weekend that we are building a more consistent package each time we go out to race. And as a driver give me consistency over one great run and one bad run, every time.”

In round one of eliminations RAI will tee off against one of the most popular Nitro racers Clay Millican.
