A $5000 to win Pro Stock Shootout will be one of the highlights of the John Taverna Classic to be held at Calder Park Raceway on March 1.

The event will be the first of five state championship events, the first time in well over a decade that an ANDRA sanctioned series has been held in Melbourne. Add to that the two ANDRA Drag Racing Series events during the year and the opportunities for starved drag racers have really started to grow in Australia’s second biggest city.

Pro Stock racers so far entered for the shootout include the recently strong Ian Brown, six second man Bill Kotsias, Jason Hedges in his new Pontiac, Nino Cavallo and Richard Cavall. All will be vying for a $5000, winner-takes-all prize.

Qualifying is expected to run from 9am with eliminations from 4pm. For more information head to www.calderparkdragracing.com.au.
