Super Sportsman gives two events in one

Willowbank Raceway is pleased to announce a new concept in sportsman drag racing – the Super Sportsman Event – with two events in one!

The event will take place at Queensland’s premier drag racing facility on Saturday November 27, with track championship points and prizemoney on offer across the day.

The Modified, Super Sedan, Super Gas, Modified Bike, Super Street and Junior Dragster categories will all be in on the action, with all categories able to participate in both events.

The first event will see each category participate in two qualifying sessions from 9.00am to midday, before racing in the same format as a regular bracket event from midday to 4.30pm with Track Championship Points awarded.

Once 5.00pm ticks over, the race for prizemoney will begin with all-in racing for the Modified, Super Sedan, Super Gas and Super Street categories while Modified Bike and Junior Dragster will also compete for the cash through a Chicago Shootout format.

Willowbank Raceway Managing Director Steve Bettes said the two-events in one format means the Super Sportsman Event allows racers from these categories to max their chances for points and prizemoney for a value for money entry cost.

“There will be up to $500 in prize money up for grabs in some categories to be shared between the winner and runner up, and whit championship points also up for grabs during the day, this event gives the racers the best of both worlds,” said Bettes.

“With a low-cost entry fee of $100 allowing racers to compete in both events (a normal bracket event entry is $60 for one event) this allows the racers to get value for money and lots of racing all in one day!”

Willowbank Raceway is Queensland’s premier drag racing facility and hosts four major drag racing events each year – the two-round New Year Series in January, the Australian Top Fuel Championships in March and the Castrol EDGE Winternationals in June. The Queen’s Birthday event is the largest drag racing event outside of the US and is the season finale for the ANDRA Pro Series calendar.
