VIDEO: Wagstaff runs Australia’s quickest pass on radials

Queensland’s Wade Wagstaff has made Australia’s quickest radial tyre drag racing pass in testing for the Kenda Radial Riot at Willowbank Raceway.

Wagstaff’s pass of 3.946 at 193mph came despite a pedal midway through the run, and showed there is still plenty in reserve for the orange 57 Chev (above, file photo). Wagstaff competed at South Georgia Motorsport Park’s No Mercy and Lights Out event this past year and the experience showed, with 3.8s no doubt on the cards.

Testing has yet to see any other three second passes, though several have gone close including Matthew Grubisa’s 4.023 at a big 198.55mph (the first 200mph on radials in Australia is still up for grabs), Shane Hale’s 4.067 and Joe Gauci’s 4.085.

The Kenda Radial Riot takes place on Saturday at Willowbank Raceway, and with US track prep ace Kurt Johnson handling the stickiness, expectations are high of further records. Check out the video of Wagstaff’s awesome run below.
