Crashes are part and parcel of all motorsports, including drag racing, but this wall-slap from Danny Makdessi’s gorgeous four-door Valiant was one of the stranger ones we have seen recently.

All looks well for the ‘Devil’s Taxi’ until a couple of hundred feet out from the Sydney Dragway start line when both rear wheels instantly lock, causing Makdessi to get into the wall.

The cause was found in the rear end of the car, where a broken pinion locked everything up. Fortunately Makdessi was okay, and as a smash repairer by trade, we are sure he will have the Valiant back on track soon.
