How many of you who are against 1000ft have actually seen it live?

A bit slow now but once the season starts it will be the place on fb to catch up with what is going on in the 3 nitro classes. All positive, I promise!

1000ft is almost working despite itself for Top Fuel in the USA. It has become Pro Stock-close which has boosted the racing entertainment value. I'd still personally be a fan of somehow reducing traction be that through smaller wing size or tyre width (I'm sure there are technical ramifications for both I'm not aware of) to produce lower speeds and return to quarter mile, but 1000ft isn't totally sucky lately.
In an Australian context would it work? Adelaide went quite well. Will be interesting to watch Calder next year. I think we have it right with the mix of 1000ft where the venue requires it and quarter mile where the venue can hold it.
Anyway back to the sport instead of the politics...SPOILER ALERT....how good was it to see Langdon get his first win? Definitely well deserved and AJ appears to have his groove back just in time for the countdown.

Pro Stock racers were PISSED at the last meeting!!!

It's amazing how many people knock 1000ft racing who have never seem it live. It's blew me away. I think the NHRA have got it just about right for the professionals except for ps bike
The sarge is an a very humble man when you can get to talk to him, it's just that heis like every sportsperson in the state and driven to win, nothing else matters. I had the same view of him until we went over there last year and was able to talk to him. They all love an Aussie accent. Spencer Massey is a 'hoot' but the most amicable racer was T.J Zizzo. My misses is in love with Mat Hagan and mrsmooth is Zippy, Robert Hight is so focused and Force is just Force, what you see is what you get, and I would love to see Tim Wilkerson take out the tilte. Pro stock well I don't really care except I would not want to see team whingers take it out again.
Could go on but it would get boring to the people who haven't been there. Put it on your bucket list to get to a race meeting over there, it's a different world.

I have, and I would still prefer 1/4 mile... The fact is that there is still the possibility to run the full length and the NHRA isn't taking that on board. I am sure deep down we would all prefer 1/4 mile over 1000ft if there was a choice. My mind will never change. Live it is always going to be good. Top Fuel and Funny Car could run 1/8 mile and if you are there it is still amazing, but the more you can get the better, and on TV the races are too short. They should be mixing it up, a 1/4 mile and 1000ft series would be fantastic. Not to mention that the 57 year history that the NHRA had with the nitro classes basically went out the window once they changed.

My thoughts exactly. I am sure 1000ft racing is awsome to watch live, all going well I will be next year but its still not what we all know 1320ft.
Does it now mean that unless its reset in another country the fasted top fuel pass in history is safe and will not be broken?
Also as I said before, its trying to make sence of it when you try to compare a 1000ft pass with 1/4 mile. Im all for the saftey side of it but dont see why it cant still be 1/4 mile racing where the tracks breaking area allows.
Nathan
I agree, it looks so short on TV but in person its awesome, yeah would have loved to have seen them run 1320 but you really dont notice the difference at the track and as someone said the racing is so tight every single pass its bloody exciting close racing.
If you havent been to a NHRA race dont let 1000ft put you off. best $10k I have ever spent and I am going back next year. Never been so motivated to save money in my life, 3 races this time, maybe even 4!!

A Lot of my friends like to sit at 800' and there 1000' sucks! But I sit around 100' and from there the difference is not as noticeable as one would think! But as long as these guys are doing 325-330 at 1000', dont expect 1320 anyttime soon!

If you don't like it then don't go and watch it or watch it on TV but hey Darren I'll see you over there next year at Vegas and Pomona to get our fix of the best stuff you'll ever see.
OK flame away cause you don't like 1000 ft but haven't been and seen it.
Kingnitro if your mates don't like watching it why do they still sit where they sit because as you say it's much better up to 660ft.
I saw those t-shirts at Vegas, funny this guy wearing this shirt and sitting in the top eliminator club watching every pass and going off about every pass in fuel and FC.
