The 2014 APSA Pro Street Shootout series will really crank it up this Saturday at Sydney Dragway, before then though we will be teased with a preview during a few days of testing.

In the first day of testing Moits Outlaw 10.5 Mustang was the quickest with a 6.17 at 238mph.

The Outlaw 10.5 twin turbo Camaro of Jeremy Callaghan was on the pace with a 6.59 at 228mph.

Steve Athans’ 7.04 (run twice) was desperately close to their first six second ET.

Nikki Hepburn is also in the hunt for six second glory, her twin turbo big block Gemini was being temperamental early on in the day but behaved later to knock off a 7.36 at 185mph with a personal best short time.

Mick Duggan is still having a hard time of it with his mind blowing Nova. Duggan popped the blower in one burnout and struggled to find bite with the ten fives on subsequent attempts, again it is a stunning piece of machinery.

Tomi Raikko has given his Torana a complete rework since the last time we saw it a number of years ago. Now pumping out copious horsepower courtesy of a twin turbo 400ci small block, the little Torana was proving a handful.

A new look for the once silver Cortina of Daniel Nunziante, but still pushing the boundaries of what is possible on radials. Today was a bunch of wheel spin but we could still see yet Australia’s first six second radial pass in coming days.

Another new car from south of the NSW border, Glen Forster was shaking down his Pro Street Blown Mustang packing 632 cubes.

Dion Amato also made the trek north with it paying off big time hauling a 8.07 PB from the Barra powered Ford ute.

AE4R8321

Speaking of quick Fords, Joe Gauci is trying to tame the horsepower from Dandy Engines’ XW, the SBF machine should be reaching for the stratosphere once they hit the setup. Gauci will be subbing in the seat this weekend instead of his usual Cortina as he is giving the blue streak a break from racing.

For the Sport Compact fans, Michael Trovato is not scared to mix it up in Outlaw 10.5 with his little 13B ute. Despite being completely out cubed, the ute was consistently in the 7.7 second range and could prove to be the little engine that could.

AE4R8702

Front wheel drive madness comes in the form of Jason Makdessi’s Civic, the team were in raptures after breaking into the eight second zone.

AE4R8455

Adam Buffett has been sitting idle with his Torana for a while now, a transbrake problem left a soft foot brake launch on his only pass of the day, nitrous will be turned on tomorrow.

AE4R8901

Not Pro Street, but very cool! Steve Stanic was doing the driving duties on a new blown altered.

Stay tuned for Thursday’s APSA testing installment with at least one surprised guest testing.
