Willowbank Raceway is pleased to confirm its 2015 season calendar.

The new season calendar reflects a continuing commitment by the management of Queensland’s premier drag racing facility to creating an action-packed venue for Queensland drag racing enthusiasts, while always evolving and adding new concepts for both spectators and racers.

Under the 2015 calendar, national championship racing for all of the professional brackets will again come to the Raceway courtesy of the largest championship drag racing event held outside of the United States – the FUCHS Winternationals (4-7 June) – and the Santo’s Super 3 Extreme Drag Race Event presented by Uplift Cranes and Titan Cranes (4 April).

More than 60 test and tune events are scheduled including for the first time a number of Friday evening dates, while the newly introduced ‘Race-a-Mate’ concept will continue with nine dates across the year.

The Queensland Drag Racing Championships and the Street Series will continue to provide championship racing opportunities for the local racers, with seven rounds each; while key fan favourites including the Nostalgias, Pro Street Shootout, All Ford Day, Mopar Sunday, GM Mania and the Brisbane Jamboree will all return in 2015.

New to the calendar will be an All Bike Day following strong demand, and a standalone Summit Racing Equipment Sportsman Series will bring national-level sportsman racing to Willowbank Raceway on Saturday 11 April.

Willowbank Raceway CEO Tony Manson said the 2015 calendar promised an action-packed mix of events including everything from the biggest event of the year through to a wide array of grassroots racing opportunities.

“In designing the 2015 event calendar we have worked hard to create a mix of events that sees the popular and proven events and concepts of years past continue, while evolving and introducing new events to meet the demands and preferences of our racer and spectator communities,” said Manson.

“To this end the new calendar includes a new All Bike Day to be held in May, as well as the return of Nostalgia racing, our Ford, Mopar and GM enthusiast events, the Jamboree and the Pro Street Shootout.

“At the same time, we have a strong calendar of test and tune events with new Friday evening dates in place in response to calls from our participants, and the Street Series and QDRC will continue to grow from strength to strength with seven events each across the year.

“On top of all of that, we have national level racing through a standalone event for the Summit Racing Equipment Sportsman Series, the amazing FUCHS Winternationals and the popular Santo’s Super 3 Extreme Drag Race event, which in 2015 will enjoy a one day format to take the level of excitement and pressure to a whole new level.”
