If you have ever thought about thrashing your two wheel machine on the quarter, Sydney Dragway have begun holding their Bike Nights again.

 The whole idea of this is for bike riders and racers to get on track and have fun.

Held on the second Thursday of each month from October to March inclusive at Sydney Dragway, these are open to any bike provided they meet the basic rules.

The rules are kept deliberately simple and inclusive to encourage riders to head out and try drag racing for the first or 101st time.

As an added attraction, a feature bracket is offered each month. Again, the rules are kept simple and there’s no extra charge. Everyone else is still more than welcome to keep running. The qualifiers in the feature brackets will be announced after everyone’s had a couple of passes.

The upcoming feature brackets are:
January 8: Big Bore Callout. Quickest 32. Over 1000cc DYO (No Harleys or cruisers)
February 12: Cruiser Night. Quickest 32 Harleys and cruisers. DYO
March 12: Quickest 16 Street Bikes. No bars and heads-up.

At both the October and November Bike Nights, there were quite a few riders who made 10 passes with the keenest managing an even dozen.

So that riders are competing against similar bikes, the staging lanes are organised by capacity limits or style, such as the Harleys and cruisers, or the LAMS lane for smaller bikes.

WHAT DO I NEED TO RACE AT BIKE NIGHT?
* Current licence (or proof you have held a licence)
* Helmet. Basically, if your helmet meets AS/NZS1698 or AS/NZS1698:2006, you’re good to go.If you’ve got an older helmet that only meets AS1698, chuck it in the bin before you rock up to Bike Night. They’re too old and no longer meet the relevant safety standards.
* Leather or purpose-made motorcycle riding jacket
* Long pants
* Full leather gloves
* Leather boots covering the ankle.
* Under 18 competitors must be accompanied by Parent or Legal Guardian to sign the necessary document.
Note: Riders of all bikes quicker than 9.50 seconds in the quarter mile require full leathers, full leather boots and an ANDRA Licence.

WHAT ABOUT MY BIKE?
Provided they meet the normal safety rules, any bike can come along and make passes.
Street rego is not required and drag bikes are also encouraged to come along and have a skid provided their ANDRA tech and logbook are current.
