More than 500 racers have signed up for the largest championship drag racing event held outside of North America – the Fuchs Winternationals (June 4-7, Willowbank Raceway).

Queensland’s premier drag racing facility will host the four day bonanza – also the finale for the 2015 national season – across what will be the last Queen’s Birthday long weekend to be held in June.

The event will host racing for all national championship brackets as the 2015 season draws to a close – including all six professional level brackets of Top Fuel (10 entrants), Top Doorslammer (19), Top Alcohol (10), Top Fuel Motorcycle (7), Pro Stock (12) and Pro Stock Motorcycle (9).

In all of those brackets the defending event winner will be back to play, with Damien Harris (Top Fuel), John Zappia (Top Doorslammer), Jon Sting (Top Alcohol), Chris Matheson (Top Fuel Motorcycle), Aaron Tremayne (Pro Stock) and Luke Crowley (Pro Stock Motorcycle) all set to attempt back-to-back event wins at the most prestigious event on the Australian drag racing calendar, but anything can happen when it comes time to race so not one competitor in the entry list can be discounted.

“The Fuchs Winternationals is the largest drag racing event on the Australian calendar without question and the biggest championship drag racing event held outside of North America – it is a must-see event for every automotive fan,” said Willowbank Raceway CEO Tony Manson.

“With more than 500 racers on-deck and more than 30,000 race fans expected to descend on our facility across the four days, the atmosphere at this event is always electric.

“As well as edge-of-your-seat racing action, as the largest event on the calendar there are a range of activities to see and do off the track as well – from autograph sessions and trade displays to roving entertainment, and of course there is the unrivalled access to all the teams in the pits included in your entry ticket.

“In today’s day and age of experiencing through the television, events like these are ones that need to be included on your ‘must-see’ bucket list.

“Only in person can you really appreciate the roar and thunder of the nitro-powered and flame-throwing Top Fuelers, feel the tension and the passion of the racing, and experience the sights and smells as you get up close and personal with all the teams.

“And that is all before you take into account the fact that you can see cars exceeding 500 kilometres per hour right in front of your eyes – which is a very special experience indeed that is not to be missed!”

Also hitting the track will be more than 400 sportsman racers contesting the 2015 Summit Equipment Racing Sportsman Series, with bumper line-ups on-show for a number of classes. Super Sedan (71 entrants), Super Street (55), Supercharged Outlaws (49), Super Stock (25), Junior Dragster (46), Modified Bike (45), Competition (16), Competition Bike (23), Modified (40), Super Compact (17), Super Gas (18) and Top Sportsman (26) will all be on track to the delight of an expected 30,000 spectators across the four days.

“In April we hosted a round of the Summit Racing Equipment Sportsman Series and what a show they put on that day – we can’t wait to see what these more than 400 racers have in store for us over the four huge days coming up,” said Manson.

“With huge fields in some brackets and so much to play for as the season finale, you can rest assured the racing will be fast, frantic and impassioned!”

Tickets are on sale online now – including discounted pre-purchase only tickets. Looking to bring the family? Don’t forget that children aged 13 and under gain free admission, while students with ID and Concession Card Holders can access discounted entry (terms and conditions apply).
