A statement from Perth Motorplex, Sydney Dragway and Willowbank Raceway has claimed support from the Pro Stock and Pro Stock Motorcycle categories.

Both categories only have scheduled rounds at those three tracks, as well as Adelaide International Raceway where Racing Onn Promotions has indicated they will run with the series so they can have Top Fuel present at their events.

Pro Stock representative Kerry Tremayne said owners had voted to support the new series.

“A united approach by the tracks and Group 1 racers to marketing and promotion and a Racing Commission with balance is what drag racing needs to return confidence to competitors and the sport to prominence,” he said.

“We look forward to working with the series organisers in the best interests of Australian drag racing.”

Reigning Pro Stock Motorcycle Champion Maurice Allen and two-time champion Luke Crowley also indicated support for the series.

“A more professional approach to marketing and promotion is exactly what Australian drag racing needs, and I’m confident the new direction will benefit competitors and fans alike,” Allen said.

“The new series has our complete support and we will be working with the Pro Stock Motorcycle Owners Association to ensure it is a great success.”

Track spokesperson and Willowbank Raceway president Tony Wedlock welcomed the excitement.

“We are working closely with all professional categories to ensure they understand the benefits the new series offers, and will continue to do so,” he said.

The new series is currently only known as the Professional Drag Racing Series, though a new series name and brand has been promised for coming weeks.

It is believed that both the tracks and ANDRA are meeting with Top Doorslammer and Top Alcohol racers this weekend in Darwin.
