Australian Top Fuel driver Richie Crampton has won the US Nationals at Indianapolis Raceway Park.
Still in his rookie year, Crampton drove the race of his short career to defeat Steve Torrence in the final. With a .062 to .079 reaction time advantage, Crampton extended his lead throughout the 1000 feet to take a 3.766 to 3.799 win.
Crampton is the first Australian to win Top Fuel at the US Nationals and is just the second Australian in total to win the US Nationals, following in the footsteps of Wally Clark who won in 1985 in Super Stock.
