Getting off to the best start of his brief career in the 2015 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series season, Lucas Oil/GEICO Top Fuel driver Richie Crampton is ready for bigger things during his second trip ever to the NHRA Four-Wide Nationals, which will take place this weekend in Concord, North Carolain.

“We’re going to continue working on our consistency,” Crampton said. “This season has started off strong so far. We just have to keep moving in the right direction.

“We have a good race car and there’s no reason why we can’t continue to do well when we get to Charlotte. There’s no real particular thing we need to fix; we just need to keep plugging away. If we can do that, I think we’ll be looking pretty by the end of the race Sunday afternoon.”

After making his first appearance at the NHRA Four-Wide Nationals during his rookie year in 2014, Crampton isn’t concerned about how his return trip to the “Bellagio of Dragstrips” will go.

“As with every race this year, I’m a lot more comfortable and I know what to expect with most stuff now,” Crampton said. “Going to the Four-Wide for the second time is exciting. It’s the only race we have like it on the schedule, but with one attempt already under my belt I feel extra confident heading in.

“My plan is to treat it like any other race no matter how many other dragsters I’m lined up against. I’m just looking forward to getting there and being a part of that cool show.”
