The 2015 drag racing season kicked off in style Saturday night for Hidden Valley Drag Racing Association with over 70 racers across all brackets and the crowd was also treated to the sights and sounds of the Aussie Bandit Wheelstander running a 1/4mile up on two wheels.

Troy Wittwer took out his first win of the season in Top Sportsman with his new Studebaker running an impressive 7.84 at 170mph with his opponent Craig Davis not making it down the track due to engine troubles on the start line.

Super sedan standoff between mates Chris Parris and Steven Scheurs saw them go old school racing tossing a coin for lane choice before Chris Parris took the win from favourite Steven Scheurs with a 9.63 on a 9.58 dial-in, although Scheurs’s 9.09 on a 9.07 dial-in made for nail biting finish.

After Gary bakers near on perfect reaction time of .007 he was sure to have this final in the bag, but after the veteran made a rookie mistake shifting from second to neutral he handed Tim Bryan the win in super street with a 11.1 on a 11.07 dial-in.

Mr consistent Street Car Bob Czerniawski in his SS Commodore took the win over new comer Kurt Steinhort in his Skyline with a 13.7 on a dial-in of 13.48

Tattingham brothers were on fire this opening meeting with Dave Tattingham taking out the street bike finals over Josh Schuit with a 10.9 on a 10.7 dial-in. While Mark Tattingham took the win in Modified bike over Colin Sainsbury with a very smooth 9.7 on a 9.6 dial-in.

Brooke Harris took out the win in Junior dragster in what is her first year of racing. Brooke won on a solo pass after new comer Brandon Bowman broke early in the night.

The night was bittersweet for Todd Knight after crossing the finish line a tyre failed on his Pontiac at over a 150mph resulting in significant damage to his car ending his season.

The cars will take to the track again in just under 2 weeks for the second round of the Track Championship Series on the 30th May.
