Victor and Ben Bray will be looking to repeat their 2012 Slamfest Series success when they take to the track at Heathcote Park Raceway this Saturday (19 January) for round one of the 2013 tour.

The Series sees a field of Top Doorslammer competitors competing across the eighth-mile distance at regional tracks around Australia. During last year’s running of the series, both Victor and Ben snared a win each while Victor also reset the Top Doorslammer elapsed time record for the eighth mile.

The father and son team from Kallangur in Queensland will feature as part of an eight car field including fellow ANDRA stars John Zappia, Peter Kapiris and Russ Pavey; as well as Marcus Chambers, John Brunner and Frank Mamone.

Victor Bray said his team will be looking to back-up their 2012 results at the track he rates as one of the nation’s best.

“Apart from the three major quarter-mile tracks (Willowbank Raceway, Sydney Dragway and Perth Motorplex), in my opinion Heathcote Park Raceway – located just one and a half hours out of Melbourne – is one of the best tracks in Australia,” said Victor Bray.

“We enjoyed some great success during the 2012 Slamfest series – we were able to secure two wins for the team, and I became the second Top Doorslammer racer to break the ‘three second’ eighth mile mark when I rewrote Zappia’s ET record in Benaraby (Gladstone).

“This Series is a great chance for those of us in the ANDRA championship to get out to some of the more regional tracks while enjoying some hard and fast racing – you’ve got the top three from the ANDRA title chase taking to the track this weekend plus some other great racers as well, so the entertainment factor is guaranteed to be high!”

Ben Bray will be looking to repeat his 2012 Townsville Slamfest round performance, where he took victory in an all-Bray finale.

“I really enjoyed the Slamfest rounds last year and with a win from an all-Bray final at Townsville fresh in my memory I can’t wait to get on track at Victoria’s Heathcote Park Raceway this weekend,” said Ben Bray.

“Like a lot of Australia, Victoria has been struggling with the heat wave and bushfires of late and everyone here at Team Bray Racing sends their sympathies to those that have been impacted by the fires. Hopefully there will be some relief in the temperatures and conditions for the state soon.”

The 2013 Slamfest Series will be held over six plus rounds in 2013, starting with this weekend (19 January) at Heathcote Park Raceway before taking in Portland’s South Coast Raceway (16 February) and Gladstone’s Benaraby Raceway (29 June) before the final round in Mackay (13 July 2013). This weekend’s on-track action will commence from 11.00am on Saturday 19 January, for more information, please visit www.slamfest.com.au
