Drag Racing veteran Jim Read will launch his “warts and all” biography at the forth-coming Winternationals entitled The Jim Read Story – The Good, Bad and Ugly. For a lucky Drag News Australia reader, we will be giving away an autographed copy for guessing what time Phil Read records in qualifying the Jim Read Racing Valvoline sponsored entry at the event.

The books tells of how Jim Read, a poor western suburbs of Sydney boy, grew up to be the most successful and ‘most capped’ drag racer since racing commenced in Australia. Covering all from his racing exploits and heroics to his negotiations with the NSW government in the building of Sydney Dragway (WSID as it was then known) and the enemies he made along the way.

Add this together with four marriages, surviving cancer and an horrific crash this book is a sure recipe for the life of Jim Read, The Good, Bad & Ugly!

Information for purchasing the book is on www.jimreadracing.com.au web site. 400 copies of the book will be available at the Winternationals, Willowbank Raceway in Queensland. Special price for the event $50 for a signed copy of the book ($55 via the web site).

In the meantime and for a chance to win Jim’s book, check out our forum competition. Winner will be announced at the completion of qualifying.

Thanks go to JRR for the book.
