In another huge day of testing ahead of this weekend’s Brisbane Jamboree, the Puerto Rican visitors hammered both Australia and world records at Willowbank Raceway

The Mech-Tech 2JZ Scion decimated the Australia Sport Compact record with a 5.83 at 244mph personal best, and is now just a tenth off the outright world mark.

Fan favourite, the 2JZ powered AE86 Corolla “El Humilde” broke its own world record for a 3/4 chassis car with a 5.94 at 242mph.

Meanwhile the Rafaelito Racing 13B RX8 backed up the previous day’s short times with a 6.77, smashing the Australia 13B record on a less than clean pass – low 6.50s are looking likely when they put both ends of the run together.

The Japanese and New Zealand teams have recorded personal bests in testing as well ensuring the next two days should be punctuated with killer performances.
