West Australia’s Todd Stacy will be looking to overcome recent tyre shake issues when he competes in this weekend’s MacTrack Westernationals at his home track, the Perth Motorplex.

The event, which includes round eight of the Summit Racing Equipment Sportsman Series, will be held across Saturday March 3 and Sunday March 4.

The 31-year-old Fabricator from Forrestfield said that aside from the usual goals for a race weekend, overcoming recent challenges with the car was paramount.

“At the moment we are focusing on just getting the car down the track – we are having a whole heap of trouble with tyre shake,” explained Stacy, who thanked Rotomotion, Performance Tested Seals, A1 Hi Performance, Envisage Accounting Services and Supa Jax for their support of his racing.

“Obviously, we would like to win – everyone wants to win – I would like to set the record as well; if it will happen or not, I don’t know.

“At the end of the day we are just a small team, looking to have fun and see what we can do really.”

While Stacy has his eye on a record, he won’t be alone in that pursuit with the Super Stock bracket being particular competitive on that front.

“The competition is going to be very strong this weekend in Super Stock – most of my competitors are four to five tenths under the index, they all run right on the record, so you have to be on it all of the time,” Stacy said.

“The Westernats is a big event, but for me I am not really feeling any extra pressure because I don’t tend to travel to other tracks, so for me it is more just a longer meeting. I like that because the format stretches it all out a bit more and you have a bit more time to look over stuff and think about what you are doing with the car which will come in handy.

“I have to thank my dad Terry, it is his car after all – I have just come along and told him I am using it and changed a heap of stuff on it!” Stacy laughed.

“I also have to thank my partner Erica, she puts up with a whole lot from me, the guys from Rotomotion as they bend over backwards for me trying to get this thing working, and also ‘Woolie’ – he is always there giving us a hand.”

The MacTrack Westernationals’ Summit Racing Equipment Sportsman Series action will include racing from the Competition, Super Stock, Competition Bike, Supercharged Outlaws, Top Sportsman, Modified, Super Sedan, Modified Bike and DENSO Super Street categories.

On-track action will be held from 12noon to approximately 10.30pm on both Saturday March 3 and Sunday March 4.
