Workshop Wars

Sydney Dragway has long been home to some of the quickest and fastest street cars in Australia – in some cases the world.

On March 21 at its weekly Race 4 Real off street event, Sydney Dragway will launch the latest concept in quick street cars – Gulf Western Oils Workshop Wars!

Pitting six of the biggest names in performance street cars from all over Sydney, Gulf Western Oils Workshop Wars will see genuine street driven and registered cars in a head to head battle to find out which workshop will wear the crown of Gulf Western Oils Workshop Wars Champion.

Each team will provide two cars to compete at each Gulf Western Oils Workshop Wars event. The dates are as follows:

Round 1 : 21st March
18th April
23rd May
20th June

Semi Finals: 18th July
15th August

Grand Final : 5th September

Each car will race 3 times at each event, each time against a competing team. Teams receive 3 points for a win, and 1 point for a loss. No points will be awarded for a no-show.

Round 1 will be a cumulative point score across 4 rounds, with only the highest four teams progressing to the semi-finals. The same format applies to the semi-finals, with the highest two scoring teams progressing to the Grand Final.

With support from Gulf Western Oil, Turbo by Garrett and OVO, there will also be an online show with regular instalments highlighting the action from Gulf Western Oils Workshop Wars and also behind the scenes visits to the participating workshops. The online show will be available on OVO Play and be free to watch, with OVO customers able to watch Data-Free via the OVO Play platform.

Participating teams include some of the biggest names in performance street cars: PAC Performance, GAS Racing, CV Performance, Westend Performance, Maatouks Racing and Motorsports Mechanical.

“This is a platform that we think will be really popular with our fans and competitors alike,” said Sydney Dragway General Manager Peter Beaumont. “This style of racing is so popular at the moment, and with seven and eight second cars in the mix this is going to be a series that you will not want to miss out on!”

Gulf Western Oils Workshop Wars begins next Wednesday 21st March at Sydney Dragway’s weekly Race 4 Real.
