No prep racing hasn't taken off in Australia yet like it has in the USA, but that may soon change with the Warrnambool And District Drag Racing Association to run an event at Warrnambool Aerodrome with a $10,000 prize pool on January 19, 2019.
With a $5,000 prize each for big tyre and small tyre classes, the organisers hope to attract up to 100 entries for the classes.
Club president Paul Cleaver told The Warrnambool Standard that such prizemoney had never before been offered by the club.
“It is raised to draw cars and drivers to come and the $10,000 prize is very different to the $300-$400 and trophy we used to give out and really make it into a big meeting," he said.
