Team Rapisarda’s American campaign has ended prematurely after breaking a blower belt at the 600 foot -mark in round one against young gun Spencer Massey at the season closing Automobile Club of Southern California NHRA Finals at Pomona.

Cory “Mac” did a good job to put us in the field and it was a disappointing way to finish our season,’’ said team owner Santo Rapisarda commenting on the  performance by the Oz team that qualified in 13 th place in the 25- car field. “ To make the cut was a great result for our team and we were unlucky to go out to early on race day especially after all the hard work the boys put in.’’

The second Rapisarda car steered by West Oz star Damien Harris struggled over qualifying and despite a best run of  4.00/287 mph was unlucky to  miss the cut in 17 th spot a scant .05 seconds  when rain forced NHRA organisers to cancel the final round of qualifying.

‘’If we had been able to make the final qualifier I was confident that we had the car to get in the field, but that’s drag racing.’’ Said Harris ‘’It’s been an unbelievable experience for the team and I’m very grateful to Santo for the opportunity to race on the NHRA.”
