Cory McClenathan making his 400 th start in the elite Top Fuel category was outpaced by Spencer Massey in round one of eliminations at the NHRA Arizona Nationals.
On a cool, overcast track Massey led off the line and scored a comfortable win after the Rapisarda car spun the tyres at half- track and was forced to settle for a 3.96sec pass at 255.73 mph.
“It was disappointing not to go past first round,” said Santo Rapisarda Jnr.
‘’We have been struggling with clutch disc issues that we need to resolve before going to the Gatornationals in Florida next month. Morale in the team is high on the back of the personal best we ran in qualifying. From Phoenix we are on the road to our home base in Indianapolis and some late nights in the workshop ahead of round three of the championship in Florida.”
