Hot on the heels of the announcement last week that all systems were ‘go’ for the March 18-19 running of the ANDRA Pro Series Top Doorslammer/Pro Stock double-header comes confirmation of a naming rights sponsor for the high-profile event. To be known as the Aeroflow by Rocket Industries Pro Series event, the announcement gives both Sydney Dragway and the facility’s litany of fans a fix of top level competition at the popular western Sydney venue.

Sydney Dragway Chairman Sam Sofi acknowledged Rocket Industries’ involvement in the event, citing Graeme Cowin’s ongoing investment in drag racing and his local venue, as fantastic news for drag racing competitors and fans across Sydney, and across the country.

“This is fantastic news for the venue,” he agreed. “We have some big plans for Sydney Dragway this year, and to see such iconic names as Cowin and Rocket Industries step up to the plate almost immediately to support these events shows just how strong support for the facility really is – we’re very excited about what the coming few months will bring.”

From Graeme Cowin’s perspective, this announcement of further support to the sport he and his family have made their own, comes in addition to his recent return to top flight competition with son Andrew in both Top Fuel and the Nostalgia ranks.

“We’re very pleased to be involved with Sydney Dragway in presenting the ANDRA Pro Series event during March,” Graeme Cowin, CEO of Rocket Industries confirmed. “Drag Racing is integral to our business, and my family has lived it and competed in it for over 40 years – for us it’s a way of life. Sydney Dragway too is conveniently placed for Rocket Industries, which is only five minutes drive from the venue, but more than that, it is integral to the future of the sport in Australia, and an important part of Sydney’s motorsport culture. If it’s successful, we’re all better for it, so I’m more than happy to be involved in the event and looking forward to what promises to be a great weekend of competition.”

Whilst the Cowin family will be back in action at Sydney Dragway over the April 30-May 1 weekend for the ANDRA Pro Series Nitro Champs round, focus for now turns to the Aeroflow by Rocket Industries Pro Series Top Doorslammer/Pro Stock event on March 18-19.

The event will feature Top Doorslammer and Pro Stock action, plus round five of the 2010/2011 Sydney Dragway Track Championships over two exciting days. Gates open 3:00pm Friday and 9:00am Saturday, with Friday titled ‘Ladies Day’ with all adult females provided free entry.

Always crowd pleasers, the Top Doorslammers and Pro Stock Pro Series cars will be joined by two Nitro Funny Cars in a demonstration supported by the Stipanovich family and Roadline Removals. This will be a sensation for Sydney drag racing fans who have been starved of the awesome nitro-breathing ‘floppers’ for more years than anyone cares to remember.

The action won’t stop there though, Top Doorslammer legend Victor Bray announcing that he too will bring his own entertainment, with rides being offered to some very lucky ticket holders alongside the multiple Australian champion in his two-seater Sidchrome burnout car.
