The 2011 NT Quarter Mile Titles is shaping up to be bigger and better than ever with full fields of all classes registered for the event at Hidden Valley Drag Strip this weekend.

Among those attending will be the reigning Australian Rocket AllStars Supercharged Outlaw champion, Matt Watts.  Originally from Alice Springs, but now residing in Queensland, Watts will be making the journey with his father and fellow racer, Guy Watts.

Sporting a 360ci supercharged V8, Watts has a personal best of 6.97 seconds at 192mph. With only a handful of Territorians ever to run a 6 second pass at Hidden Valley, Watts will be keen to add his name to the list.

Another notable entry for this weekend is the NSW based Frank Mamone. The Darwin public got to see the 1967 Chev Nova on display earlier this year and Mamone is back to see if he can get the power to the ground and break into the 6’s on only a 10.5 inch slick.

The locally based Top Doorslammers of Matt Abel and Scott MacLean have also registered and are pushing to take back the track record from John Zappia who set the benchmark at 5.90 seconds in May this year. While MacLean is waiting for some final parts to arrive from overseas, he is confident he will be ready and on track Saturday night.

In other classes, the crowd pleasing full track burnouts of Steve Payne in AGROHT will be back, while veteran Dave Tattingham is making the trip from South Australia to compete in Street Bike.

Gates open from 1pm on Saturday 20 August with qualifying from 2pm and feature racing getting under way from 7pm.
