After retiring from international cricket, Mike Whitney first appeared on Sydney Weekender back in 1994, and since then has loved every minute of it.
Over the years, Mike has hosted Sydney Weekender from all over New South Wales; from Eden in the south, to Tibooburra in the far north-west of the state.
“Would you believe, I’m still finding out about new places you can go to for your weekend,” he says.
One of those “new” places was Sydney Dragway when the show recorded a story about drag racing in May at the 2012 Nitro Champs. By his own admission Mike Whitney was blown away! Not only by the spectacle, noise and brute horsepower of the vehicles but by the amount of families and kids that attended the event. His perceptions about drag racing were changed dramatically.
