Stuart Bishop is hoping to steer his Diamond Doorslammer up the Top Doorslammer points ladder at the Sydney Dragway’s Nitro Champs this Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Heading in to the penultimate round of the ANDRA Pro Series Top Doorslammer championship, the world’s fastest jeweller is currently sixth in the standings, behind Robin Judd (leading), Maurice Fabietti, John Zappia, Ben Bray and Peter Kapiris.

“We have had some promising results in Sydney over the past 12 months when the weather has allowed us to race, with our first five second pass recorded there back in September,” said Bishop, as he prepared to take the wheel of the SBR transporter for the 13 hour trek to Sydney.

“Since then we have been able to establish some consistency in the car as far as speed while also working on some other developments, and I am looking forward to getting on track this weekend.

“We were able to do some testing last week as well, and following that day out at our local Willowbank Raceway, I am feeling confident that we will be able to qualify well and hopefully go rounds to score some more points to move up in the championship chase.”

The weekend’s Top Doorslammer action kicks off with the first of three qualifying sessions on Friday April 30 at 6.00pm. The second and third qualifiers will then be run on Saturday May 1 at 3.00pm and 6.00pm, ahead of race day Sunday, with Top Doorslammer eliminations to kick off at 12.00pm with round one. The semi finals are expected to hit the track at around 2.30pm before all finals are held from 5.00pm (all times approximate and subject to change).

Also on track for Stuart Bishop Racing this weekend will be Cody Grohn, competing in the Junior Dragster category aboard the Wallace Bishop Jewellers Junior Jem.
It will be a family affair for Grohn, who is currently seventh in the championship points for the category with two rounds of racing remaining including this weekend. His mum and dad David and Sue, as well as sister Shea are travelling down from their hometown of Bundaberg to watch him in his last Junior Dragster appearance at Sydney Dragway.
Also cheering on both Bishop and Grohn across the weekend will be four of the famous Stuart Bishop Racing girls, equipped with brand new outfits who will be happy to meet and greet the fans across the three day event from Friday April 30 to Sunday May 2.
