Rapisarda Autosport International fell to Doug Kalitta in the first round of Top Fuel at the 2013 O’Reilly Auto Parts Route 66 Nationals.

“We smoked the tyres, it’s as simple as that,” according to Tino Rapisarda who celebrated his 20th birthday on the eve of race day.

“We got around 2.5 seconds into the run and then it was all over for the weekend.”he said.

“After two days of qualifying in cool conditions the sun came out and like a lot of teams the heat and track conditions caught us out. A win over Doug would have made a great birthday present but we are happy with how the team performed over the weekend. We take away from the event a lot of positives.”

“From here we are going back to the workshop in Indy and have a heavy schedule over the next couple of days reviewing our data, prepping the car and getting the trailer restocked before heading to Norwalk in Ohio for the Summit Racing Equipment Nationals next weekend.” Said Rapisarda.
