Organisers Steve Turner and Ross Preen have a few interesting facts to keep in mind;

Ron and Allen Moore plus Ronnie J. Williams have added their names to the list, bringing the total of people confirmed that are attending to 186.  There obviously will be a lot of walk-ups on the night, so it is realistic to be around the 300 mark.

Bobby Dunn will have an 8’ x 4’ (old measurement for you ‘old guys’ to understand) board with a heap of blown up shots of his cars in action, several other people have mentioned they are bringing stacks of photos and clippings, which is great for sharing a drink or two over.

Today (Saturday 10th) we were offered a BIG RED Fire Engine to be onsite for the Grandkids to climb over and possibly even have a ride or two around the pits (Ray Treasure to confirm), but it will also be cool to have on hand to put the BBQ out with as every year….it catches ‘ablaze’…..

We have 4 confirmed ‘Cackle Cars’ to highlight the evening, and will fire them off just as it is getting dark for the best flame show in town.

We also understand that several Hot Rods have driven to the Bright Rod Run this weekend from Adelaide, and will continue their journey to our event next weekend.  Man that would be one hell of a road trip.  I imagine that the car show alone in the pits that night will be pretty cool as well.

Couple of things to remember for Saturday.

– Gates open at 3pm for FREE admission to the evening’s activities.

If you have pre registered, hence on the enclosed list, please collect your name badge and ‘sign in’ with Jude Preen at the Rego Table.  We will ask you to fill in a form so for every year after this one, it will make it very easy to keep people in the swing and you will be kept abreast as next year’s event takes shape.

– We are hopefully having some tin signs made of the event, and they will be $30 on the day and only 30 being made. I say hopefully as the maker is sure sandbagging on this job, but we are hopeful.

– The ANFA will have embroidered hats with the Pioneer Award deal on the side with 3 embroideries in total for $20.

– If at all possible, bring a seat.

– A ‘FREE’ poster has also been created for the event, details on the night.

So, Rocket Open Day on Saturday from 8am to 3pm, then swing by the track for a 3pm gate and relax the afternoon away (don’t forget to park away from the pit areas as cars will be arriving to unload for Sundays event).

BBQ (with a donation tin) from 5pm and pretty close to 6.30pm we will kick off the Pioneer Awards.

On the Sunday, qualifying from 9am and the racing gets underway at 1pm.
