This Saturday and Sunday (3 and 4 August 2013) will see Willowbank Raceway overrun with non-stop action with two events taking place on the same weekend.

Saturday 3 August will host the penultimate round of the 2013 JP Racing Eighth Mile Drag Racing Series, with more than 100 racers expected to line up across the FG Loy & Sons Earthmoving Old School, Diamond T Products Junior Dragster, RD Williams Excavator Parts Modified, Queensland Nameplate Group Modified Bike, Ice Slushee Super Sedan and John William Auto Sales Super Street categories.

Sunday 4 August will host the 11th annual Mopar Sunday – which in 2013 is being presented by Northstar Fiat Chrysler and is expected to feature more than 400 Mopar machines.

The event – open to every kind of Mopar from brand new machines to restored or original showpieces, dedicated drag cars, modified street cars, stock rides and even 7000 horsepower Nitro Funny Cars – will allow enthusiasts to not only watch and participate in on-track action but also enjoy a range of off-track events including a dyno shootout, a large ‘show n shine’ sponsored by Surf City Garage, merchandise stands and a swap meet.

Willowbank Raceway Acting President Tony Wedlock said the weekend is sure to deliver when it comes to variety and entertainment.

“From Junior Dragsters and Modified Bikes to Jeeps and Valiants and even a Nitro Funny Car – this weekend at Willowbank Raceway has it all!” said Wedlock.

“Now at its half way point, the JP Racing Eighth Mile Series is set to bring some exciting racing to the track on Saturday, with plenty of local racers inspired to put on a good home track performance as they chase Series accolades in their respective brackets.

“On the other side of the weekend, Mopar Sunday is always a great day out at Willowbank Raceway with an immense amount of spectacular Mopar machines on-show both on the track and throughout the grounds – for fans of Mopar, it is not to be missed!”
