After round two of the Atura NSW Championship Series was washed away by eliminations time, round three saw much more forgiving weather conditions as the series contenders start to shape up for their claim to a Sydney Dragway Track Championship.

Jono Roylance and Thomas leake certainly look to be prime contenders in Top Sportsman, with both racers up the pointy end of the championship, they faced off in the final for round three honours. Second gen racer Leake taking the winner in his Hilux on a holeshot to Roylance’s Cortina. Depsite the loss, the brand new Roylance machine has proved it self a force already in the division.

Jenny Petrie hasn’t had the ideal start to the Modified championship, but she turned her luck around in her Fiat Toppolino bodied altered, and some good luck rubbed off in the final after a tardy .227 reaction became irrelevant when Andrew Musgrave went red by just 3 thou in his altered. With the rainout ruining competitors of valuable points, the win will get Petrie right back in the hunt.

A pair of guns drew in the Super Sedan final with Jim Denaro facing off against Marco Tolomeo. Denaro was perfect on the draw with a .000 light to Tolomeo’s .017 and at the strip, the Cortina’s 9.389 on a 9.37 held off the Tolomeo Falcon. Denaro is perfect for the season with two round wins being undefeated to this point.

Modified Bike was just another day in the office for reigning track champion Robert Simmonds. But the” Simmonator” had to work for this win in the final, overcoming a holeshot from 400 Thunder champion Sean Ricketts, pushing him to a breakout, and turning the tables on the final from round one that had Rickett’s the victor.

It was a small field in Super Gas that saw Darryl Stephen run a great 9.902 on the 9.90 index in the final, only he had left a -.009 cherry hanging on the tree, throwing the win to Vince Panetta’s Torana.

In a huge Super Street field, oaccasional racer Steve Purse had the better end of a double break out race in the final against the ever consistent Michael Walsh.

Nick Polito let a holeshot advantage slip away by breaking out by just two thou at the stripe giving the Junior Dragster win to Sam Perri.

Danny Stadelmaier unleashed 1.3L of Toyota Echo fury to reach the Street Fighter final but was stopped by Jack Matosevic in his first ever showing in the class.

It was almost an all girl Street Bike field with only Daniel Bertenshaw representing the opposite sex in his first appearance in the class. The final featured Sharona Reddy and Angela Hunt with Reddy taking the startline advantage as Hunt broke out on her Hayabusa trying to make it up.

HAMBster on had two competitors with Anthony Mastromauro winning a best of three shootout against James Rodriquez.

Extreme Bike performed some heads up exhibition racing, while saw a bunch of testing in Pro Extreme, Top Comp, Supercharged Outlaws and Super Comp that did not have enough entries to form a bracket.

Round four of the series launches on May 18
