The last time the Summit Racing Equipment Sportsman Series visited the Perth Motorplex, Kirstie Wroe took out a hard-fought victory in the Super Street bracket.

Now the Thronlie (WA) resident is preparing to do battle at this weekend’s Goldenstates event, which marks round four of the 2019/2020 Summit Racing Equipment Sportsman Series.

“What an event the ANDRA Grand Final was – it was full of very tough racing all day, made even harder as everyone was chasing the last ANDRA Gold Christmas Tree of the year,” Wroe reminisced.

“The Super Street bracket had a massive field and I even got to race against three very tough female racers – including my sister Ashleigh – across the event which was great.

“The final against Ian Taylor was a close race with almost identical reaction times; it was a really good race all the way to the end.”

Heading to this Saturday’s Goldenstates, Wroe – who recently spent a couple of months travelling around Central and North America – is hopeful of another positive result.

“You have to go into every race with a bit of confidence while always remembering that in every race you are up against a really good racer,” she explained.

“With new and old racers coming back for the first Summit Racing Equipment Sportsman Series meeting of the season in Perth, there is going to be really good racing to be had.

“My Monaro is unchanged from last season and while it may not be the fastest car in the field that is totally okay, as the car is set up perfectly for me.”

As a proud local racer, Wroe is a big fan of the Perth Motorplex.

“The Motorplex is an outstanding track. I would like to say a massive thank you to Ray Treasure, all of the staff and all of the volunteers who give their time to a sport so many of us love – we couldn’t do it without these very special people,” she said.

“I would also like to say thank you to my amazing parents, Eddie and Mandy; my siblings and team mates, Nicholas and Ashleigh; my partner Anthony; our crew which help on race day and behind the scenes; and also our sponsors Thornlie Automotives, Mothers, Dale Signs, J&I Autobody Repairs and Craw’s Racing.”

Round four of the 19/20 Summit Racing Equipment Sportsman Series, the Goldenstates, will be held at the Perth Motorplex on November 9. For more information, please visit www.andra.com.au  or www.motorplex.com.au
