When Lamattina Top Fuel Racing started the 2019/2020 drag racing season with Phil Lamattina returning as the team’s driver, the nitro outfit wanted to achieve two things – a process of improving the team’s race car throughout the season and a return to the Motorplex in Western Australia.

The recent New Year’s Thunder at Willowbank Raceway was a good event for the first task and Feb 29 will be the realisation of the second goal!

Phil Lamattina was excited to confirm his return to the iconic Perth venue.

“It’s one my favourite race tracks in all of Australia, it’s just a great venue and the team at the Motorplex run the very best events.

“We have had some awesome performances in WA and with our updated car and some new tricks up our sleeve, we think we will do well in the multi-round format that we will be running,” smiled the Wemen-based racer.

The Top Fuel cars will be a part of the Westernationals Drag Racing event on February 29 and March 1, 2020.

The Westernationals is the biggest event on the WA drag racing calendar, held on the Labour Day long weekend and this year will be the first time in two years that the Top Fuel dragsters will race at the Perth Motorplex.

With four cars racing in a round robin format, the crowd will get plenty of nitro action over the two days.

Lamattina added, “We worked hard to get these Top Fuel cars back to WA and we would love to see a huge crowd there for us to entertain!”

“Our crew is excited to be heading west and we plan on putting on a real show to give the Perth crowd a taste of what they have been missing for the last 2 years!”
